The Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy in South Africa Participated in the 5th China International Import Expo Southeastern Africa Online Promotion Event

On February 24, the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy in South Africa participated in the 5th China International Import Expo (CIIE) Southeastern Africa Online Promotion Event jointly organized by the China International Import Expo Bureau, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and the Standard Bank Group of South Africa.

Liu Fuxue, Deputy Director of the China International Import Expo Bureau, said that China and Africa have a profound friendship and a long history of economic and trade cooperation. The fourth CIIE attracted 31 African countries to participate in the exhibition, with an exhibition area of 2500 square meters. During the exhibition, many African exhibitors successfully contacted Chinese prospective buyers and achieved good results. The fifth CIIE will be held from November 5 to 10, 2022. African enterprises are welcome to actively participate in the platform of the CIIE to share the opportunities of China's economic development, and their participation will become a greater driving force for economic and trade cooperation between China and Africa toward a new level..

The Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy in South Africa stated that South Africa has always been an important participant in the CIIE, and South African enterprises are also active participants and beneficiaries of the CIIE. At the 4th CIIE, despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, 16 South African companies registered to participate in the exhibition, with an exhibition area of 1596 square meters. South African specialty products such as red wine, rooibos tea and aloe vera gel were all unveiled and received large orders. The Chinese embassy in South Africa attaches great importance to the promotion and recruitment work of CIIE in South Africa, and is willing to actively invite South African enterprises to participate in the fifth CIIE, promote the export of more South African competitive products to China, and add impetus to deepening China-South Africa economic and trade cooperation.

ICBC African Representative Office stated that ICBC cooperated with Standard Bank of South Africa, relying on the platform of CIIE, and carried out supporting activities through ICBC's "Global Matchmaking" system to help improve the quality and efficiency of China-Africa trade. Standard Bank of South Africa said that it will actively cooperate with and assist African companies to participate in the CIIE and help more companies to explore the Chinese market. African exporters who have participated in the CIIE shared their experience and gains, and the representatives of buyers at the CIIE introduced their procurement plans.
